Active Park Assist

Unlike other systems that employ imaging devices, available hands-free active park assist uses ultrasonic sensors. It's one of the many revolutionary technology features available in the Ford Taurus. Simply press a button and the sensors can actually locate a parallel parking space for you. Once activated and with almost no input from you, your Taurus will be parallel parked.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Available adaptive cruise control (ACC) functions just like normal cruise control, but with one exception: When the system is activated and its sensors detect traffic slowing ahead, your vehicle automatically slows to maintain the distance you've set. And when traffic has cleared, your vehicle resumes at the preset speed. Collision warning with brake support (included with ACC) can alert you if it senses a potential collision with the car in front of you. A "heads-up" display, which simulates brake lights, flashes on the windshield. If you don't react in time, the brakes will precharge and increase brake-assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when you brake. Adaptive cruise control and collision warning with brake support are optional on Taurus Limited and SHO models.

Navigation System

The available Navigation System with SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link* combines Global Positioning System (GPS) technology with 3-D mapping and provides voice-guided** turn-by-turn directions, as well as a choice of route – fastest, shortest or EcoRoute. In EcoRoute mode, the Navigation System instantly calculates the most fuel-efficient route to your destination. Browse your music by using the touch screen or use voice activation to play back a track. SiriusXM Traffic and SiriusXM Travel Link provide continuously updated traffic information, plus current and forecast weather, gas station locations and prices, live sports scores and schedules, and theater locations with movie listings and times.

*SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Traffic and Travel Link subscriptions sold separately or as a package after trial expires. SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link service available in select markets. Subscriptions are governed by SiriusXM Customer Agreement; see www.siriusxm.com. Sirius U.S. Satellite Service available in the 48 contiguous United States and D.C. Sirius, XM and all related marks and logos are trademarks of Sirius XM Radio Inc.
**Driving while distracted can result in loss of vehicle control. Only use SYNC/MyFord Touch/other devices, even with voice commands, when it is safe to do so. Some features may be locked out while the vehicle is in gear.

BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert

Ford offers cutting-edge technology with available BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert to help make driving more convenient. BLIS uses radar in the rear quarter panels to detect a vehicle entering your blind spot and alerts you with an indicator light in the sideview mirror. Cross-traffic alert also uses radar to watch for traffic behind you when you're slowly backing out of a parking spot or your driveway. If it detects a vehicle approaching from up to 15 yards away, it sends an audible warning, a visual display in the sideview mirror, and a signal in the message center.

Electric Power-Assisted Steering

The standard electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) can enhance fuel efficiency because the system is powered by an electric motor instead of a hydraulic pump that draws power from the engine. What's more, since it is speed-sensitive, EPAS can help correct for road irregularities and improve steering feel. EPAS also features "pull-drift" compensation, a technology that helps you offset vehicle pulling or drifting that can occur in steady crosswinds or on uneven roads.

Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start

Starting your Taurus is a breeze, thanks to available Intelligent Access with push-button start. With the key fob in your pocket or somewhere in the car (including the trunk), open the driver’s door — no key is needed. Once inside, press the brake pedal and then the start button, shift into gear and go. Intelligent Access with push-button start is standard in Taurus SHO; available in SEL and Limited. Standard in all models is the SecuriCode™ keyless entry keypad. Touch the exterior keypad to illuminate it, then enter the customizable 5-digit security code to unlock the doors (in vehicles equipped with Intelligent Access with push-button start, a single touch on the keypad is all that’s needed).

MyKey® technology, standard in every Taurus, lets you program individual keys so that two members of a household can share a car, yet have personalized settings take effect when they use their unique keys. MyKey is designed to help parents encourage teenagers to drive safely. It lets you designate a key to operate special features, such as restricting the vehicle's top speed to 65, 70, 75 or 80 mph and limiting the audio system to 45 percent of maximum volume. It also provides a warning when the fuel tank reaches 75 miles to empty, allows the owner to select speed alert chimes at 45, 55 or 65 mph, and sets the Belt- Minder® to chime while muting the audio system until the safety belt is buckled.
