> 2012 Transit Connect Features: Engineering

Designed Compact. Engineered Tough

The compact Transit Connect is rugged and durable, with high-strength steel and a reinforced body shell with partial double skin sides and twin side crossmembers. The rear bumper is made of rolled steel, designed to absorb impacts while operating in tight spaces. While Transit Connect is compact, it's tough enough to withstand the rigors of everyday on-the-job duty. Transit Connect is certified to Ford Light Commercial Vehicle Durability Standards, with testing to 150,000 customer-equivalent miles.

Best-in-Class Fuel Economy

A big expense for any business operating on the road has is fuel. You'll really appreciate the best-in-class fuel economy* of the Ford Transit Connect. And with the 15.4-gallon tank in the Van model, you can operate up to 354 miles,** which means fewer trips to the gas pump and more time where it really counts — on the job.

* Wagon EPA-estimated 22 city / 27 highway / 24 combined mpg. Van EPA-estimated 21 city / 27 highway / 23 combined mpg. Class is Small Cargo Van. **Based on 23 combined mpg, 15.4-gallon tank.

Responsive 2.0L Duratec® I-4 Engine

Whether you're working the weekday urban streets or out on a weekend recreational excursion, you'll find the 2.0L Duratec® 16-valve I-4 engine in your Transit Connect as responsive as it is efficient. The Wagon model generates 136 horsepower and 128 lb.-ft. of torque, while delivering EPA-estimated 22 city / 27 highway / 24 combined mpg. Custom vehicle shown.

4-Speed Automatic Overdrive Transmission

The 2.0L Duratec® I-4 is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission with a 3.96:1 final drive ratio. It's engineered to handle the rigors of everyday commercial use and to provide the low-end torque needed for hauling heavy loads.

Lock and Latch Door Locks

Security is especially important in a vehicle that carries expensive equipment and cargo. That's why Transit Connect is equipped with Lock and Latch shielded rear door locks that help resist break-ins. Also, the ignition key is needed to unlock the hood as well as the rear doors

Excellent Manuverability

Vehicles working in crowded urban settings need to be highly maneuverable. In addition to its compact size, Transit Connect has a 39-ft. curb-to-curb turning diameter to help negotiate in tight quarters
