The Mustang 5.0 engine pays homage to the original 5.0, delivering 412 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft of torque.* The powerplant features twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT), an aluminum engine block and cold air induction to help pump out more power. But that’s only for starters. The 5.0 also has a compression ratio of 11:1 and a cylinder head designed to optimize airflow. From the High-Energy Coil on Plug design to the cooling jets that allow the pistons to run cool, every part under the hood is designed to work in harmony. Six-Speed Transmissions |

Both the six-speed manual and available six-speed automatic transmissions in Mustang deliver sporty, smooth-shifting performance, with responsive low-end torque and greater fuel economy in the high overdrive gear.* The manual transmission features an aggressive first gear that delivers powerful launch feel. This transmission has short shifter throws, providing positive internal shift stops and full gear synchronization. There is also a skip-shift feature that goes from first to fourth gear at certain speeds to help improve fuel efficiency. Both transmissions have a confident and smooth overall shift feel.

The new 2012 Mustang Boss® 302 Laguna Seca is the ultimate purpose-built track Mustang for the street. It includes brake-cooling ducts, a front-air splitter* to help with downforce, TORSEN® helical differential 3.73:1 axle ratio, exclusive 19-inch red-painted wheels and R-compound tires. Inside, the Mustang Boss 302 features RECARO® cloth sport seats with red embroidered BOSS 302 logo, Three Gauge Package (to monitor engine temperature, oil pressure and track numbers) and rear seat delete with cross-car X-brace.
