Abundant Towing Capacity |
 |
With a towing capacity of up to 5,000 lbs., when properly equipped, the Explorer can haul a boat, camper or trailer. Power comes from its standard 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 engine that delivers 290 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque. The Class III Trailer Tow Package, required for towing, includes an engine oil cooler and wiring harness. The Explorer has several features that make towing easier. There’s the available rear view camera that provides a video image on the center console screen of the area behind your vehicle. The screen has guides that help you align your vehicle when hooking up a trailer. Hill start assist, included in the available Intelligent 4WD System, helps keep the vehicle from rolling backward, making it easier to pull away when on a slope or hill with a grade greater than five degrees. Standard trailer sway control helps make towing even easier by detecting trailer sway and automatically reducing engine speed and applying asymmetric braking to help counter it.* When it comes to towing, the Explorer is the perfect choice.
*Remember that even advanced technology cannot overcome the laws of physics. It’s always possible to lose control of a vehicle due to inappropriate driver input for the conditions.

Remote Start/Climate Control System |
 |
Simply click the remote start button to start your vehicle and the available Remote Start/Automatic Climate Control System provides a comfortable interior. In hot weather conditions, the cabin is cooled to 72 degrees and the cooled seats* will be set to high. When it’s cold out, the cabin temperature is also heated to 72 degrees and the heated seats* will be set to high as well. Even the rear defrost/heated mirrors* will be activated.
*If equipped.
