Frame Strength |
| The crossmembers on the Super Duty® frame are riveted, welded, or both, to optimize frame capability. There’s also the thick steel C-channel up to 6.7-mm thick. Put this and more strong measures together and you’ll know why Super Duty delivers outstanding payload and towing capability. |
Diesel Engine Architecture |
The 6.7L Power Stroke® Turbo Diesel is designed to deliver power, efficiency and quiet operation. This rugged Ford-built powerplant features class-exclusive* inboard exhaust and outboard air induction architecture that helps reduce turbo lag. And speaking of turbochargers, a compact, efficient design is used that helps deliver power quickly. Yet another great feature is the common-rail induction system which, operating at nearly 30,000 psi, uses precise calibration and phasing to provide optimum power and efficiency as well as reduced noise, vibration and harshness (NVH).
*Class is traditional Chassis Cab Trucks under 19,500 lbs. GVWR.
250,000-Mile Diesel Test Interval |
Ford engineers put the 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel through exhaustive durability testing – much more punishment than you'd ever subject it to. That’s the kind of durability and dependability that’s built into this diesel. |
Tested Tough |
Ford Super Duty® was tested on the proving grounds and in the real world under harsher conditions than you would normally experience. And we tested it again. Only then did we feel confident that it would deliver the dependability you rely on every day. The available 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diesel, for example, was put through over 10 million miles of cumulative testing. |
Standard Front and Side Curtain Airbags |
In addition to the driver and passenger front airbags, Super Duty® provides front side-impact airbags and the Safety Canopy® System with its state-of-the-art roll-fold technology. All six airbags are standard on every Super Duty model.*
*Always wear your safety belt and secure children in the rear seat, where available.
Traction Control on DRW Models |
Class-exclusive* Traction Control on Super Duty® dual rear-wheel models uses the engine to limit wheelspin by reducing engine throttle output. It’s a smarter way to help keep you in control, even when the elements are out of control.**
*Class is traditional Chassis Cab Trucks under 19,500 lbs. GVWR. **Even advanced technology cannot overcome the laws of physics. It's always possible to lose control of a vehicle due to inappropriate driver input for the conditions.
AdvanceTrac® with RSC® |
Super Duty® single rear-wheel Chassis Cabs come equipped with standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC®). To help control your truck, it uses a combination of reduced engine power and selective wheel braking. Corner too quickly or swerve to avoid an object and RSC® will automatically use its gyroscopic sensor to measure vehicle roll, then apply the proper response to help keep your truck under control.*
